Astarang Pir Jahania Beach

Astarang, is a coastal village, with lots of history in freedom fighting of India, it was an epicenter of salt satygraha. It is situated just 27 Kilometers from Konark and 7 Kilometers from Kakatpur. Astarang literary means a ‘colorful sun set’ and is famous for its picnic spots, scenic beauty, lush green surroundings, fish produces, betel leaves, and for boating in river Devi. Few of these places are well known locally, such as Devi muhana (the estuary of river Devi), Nuagarh jethi, Jahania Pir, etc. The place is a hidden treasure for the nature loving tourists. Devi river mouth is one of the two Olive ridley turtle mass nesting sites in Odisha where thousands of turtle arrive for laying eggs; the phenomenon is described as ‘arribada’.
